At late night news on Saturday, the federal government of Pakistan has increased the prices of petroleum products. These new pieces were implemented on 16 April 2023. Fuel prices have increased by Rs. 10, and the new going rate per litre is Rs. 282, as Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced. High-speed diesel (HSD) will still be sold for Rs. 293 per litre, the same as before.
According to the finance minister, the price hike has two main reasons.
- The rising petroleum prices globally
- Pkr’s value against the US Dollar
There was also an increase of Rs. 5.78 per litre, bringing the new price of kerosene oil to Rs. 186.07. By modifying government fees, the Finance Minister has maintained the Rs. 174.68 per litre price of light diesel oil, the same as the HSD.
